Name: Tachigami
Age: At least 100 in current form. Before he and his siblings split from Amaterasu, they were all part of her, each representing a different power that she possessed.
Sex: ???? (will be referred to as a 'he' for simplicity in pronoun use.)

Tachigami is the god of blades in Okami (his name means "rending god"), and represents the rat in the Chinese Zodiac. First encountered in the shrine of Nagi, his is the second power Amaterasu regains, teaching her the 'Power slash' technique; an incredibly powerful attack that can rend nearly anything in two, from enemies to boulders.

Little is known about the Brush Gods individually, other than the fact that they were once all part of Amaterasu, and were scattered when she died as Shiranui. What is known is that they are capable of reproducing in one way or another, as many of them have children in Okamiden, Tachigami included (he has three children who live in his scabbard). Each of them also possess a 'divine instrument,' much like their Mother, through which they channel their power. Tachigami's is a broadsword many times larger than his own body, but which he wields as though it weighs nothing.

The following treads into headcanon territory, and isn't necessarily considered canon.

Tachigami, like his siblings and mother, has the power to change into a humanoid form to more easily mingle with humans. In Tachigami's human form, he resembles a child with white hair, though he is actually the oldest of the Brush Gods (with the obvious exception of Amaterasu). His sword remains exactly the same size in both forms, and still dwarfs him, no matter which form he takes. Of course, he still wields it with the skill of a master.

Tachigami's main power is the "Power Slash;" a sword slash that moves so fast that it can be performed and appear as though the user has not even twitched. This attack can cut through even the strongest material, and can only be blocked by magic. It can also be used to reflect projectiles back to their source. Aside from this special move, Tachigami's normal swordplay is unmatched in either form, and can easily take down enemies many times his own size.

Weaknesses include poor defense, and the fact that, if separated from his divine instrument, he becomes trapped in his animal form without access to any of his powers. A normal blade is no substitute, either-- It must be his Divine Instrument.

As with all Brush Gods, Tachigami's markings and Instrument can only be seen by other supernatural creatures, or those with a higher than average level of faith or spirituality. To anyone else, he appears as a simple (albeit unusually large) white rat. These rules apply in human form as well, and normal people and animals will only see a white-haired youth.

In his animal form, Tachigami can speak freely to other animals and those of high spirituality, but normals will hear nothing aside from the usual rat noises. He can speak to anyone in human form.

Personality:

Tachigami is brave for being the smallest of the Brush Gods, and will fearlessly take on any foe, regardless of size or skill. Ironically, the exception is cats, as he has a phobia of them and will run and hide if he sees one no matter how small or tame it is, up to and including his own sister, Kabegami (oddly, this doesn't apply to Gekigami, his tiger brother, and seems to only include domestic cats).

Tachigami is one of the quieter Brush Gods, preferring not to be the center of attention if he can avoid it, though he's hardly timid. When he does speak, he is incredibly formal and occasionally archaic, but it's not out of politeness. In fact, it might come as a surprise just how rude he can be, as he is always up-front and honest about his opinion on things, to the point of bluntness. He hates small talk, which is why he can come across as aloof. He never lies about anything, not even to spare someone's feelings.

He is industrious and determined, and once he sets his mind to a task, he will not rest until he has completed it to perfection. This single-minded perfectionism often proves to be problematic, however, since he tends to forget to eat or sleep as a result.

Due his small size and appearance as a child, he is often intellectually underestimated, as most assume that his mind matches his body. He is, in fact, the oldest of the Brush Gods (save for Amaterasu), and will catch subtleties when others expect him not to. He's not nearly as innocent as he appears, though he's not without a few childish vices. He likes sweets and playing with children, and candy is an effective bribe (mochi is his favorite).

Interestingly, he doesn't like cheese, and would much prefer fruit or chestnuts.
